To help you get to know Nqobile a little better, we asked a few questions about her journey, what motivates her, and what nursing means to her:

What Inspired You To Become A Nurse?

“I was deeply inspired when I went to the hospital to give birth to my eldest daughter. The sister in the maternity ward showed so much passion, care, and professionalism in her work. The way she comforted us mothers and delivered babies with such confidence and compassion left a lasting impression on me. In that moment, I told myself that one day I wanted to become a nurse just like her, and that is where my passion for nursing began.”

What Is Your Current Position?

“I am currently working as a Registered Nurse.”

How Many Years Have You Been A Nurse?

“I have been a nurse for 14 years, excluding my 4 years of training.”

What Is The Most Rewarding Part Of Your Job?

“The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a successful resuscitation where we are able to save a patient’s life and later watch them recover and be discharged to go home healthy and well”

Name One Time I Made You Proud To Be A Nurse.

“One of my proudest moments was caring for a premature baby who weighed only 600g at birth. Through dedicated care and treatment, the baby survived and was eventually discharged weighing 2.1kg. That was a huge success and a moment I will never forget.”

How Do You Keep Motivated During Challenging Times?

“I stay motivated by remembering that my patients come to the hospital because they are unwell and place their trust and wellbeing in my hands as a nurse. Knowing that I can make a difference in their lives keeps me going every day.”

What Advice Would You Give To Someone Considering Nursing As A Career?

“My advice would be to choose nursing because you are truly passionate about caring for people, and not only for the money. You must understand that every day at work, a patient’s life is in your hands, and that responsibility should always be taken seriously.”
