About the role


The Diagnostic Sales Manager provides inputs and actively shapes country business strategy in alignment with a regional strategy and takes a lead to align and implement tactical execution of the sales, marketing and operational plans. Directs adoption of adequate tools and processes to accelerate and drive sales and income growth. Leads and develops the country sales team and continuously strive to excel selling capabilities.


As a member of the management team, the Sales Manager is a key collaborator in the local decision-making process.


The role will be field based & primarily customer-facing to cover South Africa and extended Southern African markets




  • Budget and forecast
    • Leads the commercialization strategy, in line with the EMEA and Africa strategy.
    • Develops together with management team an annual business plan to make sure the regional/country targets are met or overachieved focusing on the pre-defined growth drivers and opportunities managed by their sales team.
    • Is accountable for the successful implementation of the local annual business plan.
    • Drives and leads the business to achieve and exceed expectations.
    • Makes sure the needed input is clear to update forecast and reporting is done on-time & accurately.
  • People management
    • Driving local team to deliver results; improving skills to showcase commercial excellence and leading ongoing organizational change.
    • Recruiting, retaining, and developing people.
    • Constantly reviewing & upgrading knowledge, skills, and engagement levels of the team.






  • Customer relationship
    • Develops appropriate understanding of local customer needs through ongoing interaction with key accounts, key customers and third party partners.





  • Degree in business or scientific discipline
  • Strong field sales experience
  • Demonstrable sales experience within the Life Sciences or Diagnostics arena is a plus.
  • Action oriented, drive for results, and gets things done
  • Commercial acumen with organizational awareness.
  • Sales forecast accuracy and customer focused.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and act when limited information is available.
