Our client, a wellness centre has a vacancy for an Addiction Counsellor based in White River Mpumalanga
Job Description
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions for patients in recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders.
 - Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment and relapse prevention plans.
 - Facilitate psychoeducational, process, and skills development groups in line with clinical programme objectives.
 - Monitor patient progress and document therapeutic interventions accurately and comprehensively.
 - Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers to ensure cohesive treatment delivery.
 - Participate in clinical case conferences and contribute to patient progress reviews.
 - Support family therapy and family involvement sessions when required.
 - Ensure all counselling practices align with HPCSA/BAPSA ethical codes and professional standards.
 - Provide aftercare planning and support for patients transitioning out of the inpatient programme.
 - Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
 
Minimum Requirements
- Qualifications: Registered Counsellor with either the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or Board of Addiction Professionals South Africa (BAPSA).
 - Experience: Minimum of 5 years counselling experience within an addiction recovery, psychiatric, or mental health facility.
 - Languages: Fluent in Afrikaans and English (both spoken and written).
 - Personal History: Preferably not rehabilitated (i.e., not a recovering or former addict).
 - Transport: Must have own reliable transport to and from work.
 - Availability: Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as per roster.
