Job Overview
An enrolled nurse in a trauma setting provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or other healthcare professional. They are responsible for assisting with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with traumatic injuries, often in an emergency or trauma unit.
Job Description
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols and best practices
- Knowledge and insight into infection prevention principles
- Promote and maintain patient health and give health education
- Able to complete patient assessments, compiling and implementation of appropriate nursing care plan
- Safe administration of medication, and knowledge of management of schedule medication
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
- Strong quality patient care orientation
- BLS competent
- Supervise and orientate junior staff members and students
- Perform teaching rounds with junior staff members and students
- Competently administering oral medication
- Perform wound care
- Assist doctors during ward rounds
- High energy levels and tolerance for stress/pressure
- Focus on quality patient care
- Problem analysis/solving skills and accurate record keeping
- Adaptable and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
- Ability to render basic nursing care without supervision
- Ad hoc duties
Minimum Requirements
- Registered with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse
- Minimum 2-3 years post qualification experience
- Previous experience in a Private Hospital is advantageous
- Shift work compulsory
- Work overtime when required
- Be flexible and willing to assist in other departments
