Toolmaker – Southern Suburbs – Cape Town

JOB PURPOSE

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Toolmaker

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following outputs (amongst other duties):

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventative maintenance on moulds
  • Repair of moulds
  • Repair of moulding mechanism – Hot Runner System
  • Ensure moulds are prepared and ready for production as per plan
  • Drawings, work instructions
  • Adhere 100% to maintenance schedule
  • Ensure moulds are operating optimally
  • Minimize mould downtime
  • The entire process of tool-making and mould creation from drawing to mould creation
  • Stripping and repairing plastic injection systems
  • CNC, milling, surface grinder, spark eroder, turning, polishing, bedding surfaces
  • Basic drawing modifications can read drawings

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have passed a qualifying trade test as a Tool, jig and die maker
  • Expert in plastics toolmaking
  • Have experience in plastic mould maintenance and repairs.
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience working on injection moulds
  • CNC and milling experience
  • 3 years’ experience in mould making and repair techniques
  • Be a hardworking, dedicated individual who understands the importance of attention to detail
  • Be willing to go the extra mile and follow all guidance and instructions
  • Be positive, enthusiastic, and driven to succeed
  • Be a well presented
  • Be reliable and a meticulous timekeeper
  • Have a passion for quality
  • Logical, systematic approach
