SHEQ Coordinator – Cape Town

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure that our patients and staff are provided with uncompromising quality and occupational safety services as regulated under this portfolio

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improve quality matrix in the facility
  • Drive 100% reporting, compliance and prevention measures of incidents in all the different categories
  • Reporting of incidents to the relevant external authorities
  • Implementation of Quality Improvement Programmes
  • Compliance to OHS legislation & Risk focus measures
  • Departmental and facility benchmarking
  • Quality review forum co-ordination
  • Assist with policy implementation and compliance
  • Research and Training schedule that is risk based

 

KEY INDICATORS

Risk Focused Quality Improvement Projects:

  • Safe Patient Environment
  • Quarterly Trends / Objectives / Action Plan Risks
  • Reduce Slips & Fall
  • Reduce Needle Stick Injuries
  • Medication Errors
  • Review Monthly & Quarterly Trends as Per the Hospital Scorecard (Incident)

 

Occupational Health & Safety:

  • Legal Compliances on All Aspects (OHS Act)
  • COIDA Act
  • Chairperson of the Safety Committee (Monthly)
  • Ensuring Training to All SHEQ Reps
  • Identifying Potential Risk & Action Plants to Mitigate These Risks
  • Training Scheduled That Is Risk Based
  • Disaster Management & Evacuation Drills
  • Personal Protective Equipment – Risk Assessment

 

Incident Management:

  • 100% Reporting of Incidents Across All Disciplines
  • Assist the Unit Manager / HOD to Facilitate Complete Incident Management Through Data Collection, Route Cause Analysis, & Preventative Action
  • Implementation, Adherence, And Measure Compliance to The Incident Management Policy
  • Identify Novel Trends And Close Out
  • Report Relevant Incidents To External Stakeholders
  • Training Ad Hoc To New Staff And On Induction/Orientation

 

Leadership Compliance:

  • SHEQ – Involvements In Management Walk About – Quality Rounds, Relevant Audits, & Monthly Scorecard
  • Staff Induction Programme – Every 2nd Month
  • Submit Monthly QA Month End Report By The 5th Of Each Month

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric
  • SANC Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Experience in incident management processes
  • Familiar with Quality Improvement processes
  • Occupational Health and Safety compliance as regulated in the OHS Act No. 85 of 1993
  • Knowledge of Risk focus management
  • Good interpersonal, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
  • Computer literacy is essential – Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
