Senior Payroll & Admin Manager – Southern Suburbs – Cape Town


Entire management of Payroll cycle on bi-weekly and monthly basis as well as management of HR administration



(But not limited to)



  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third party payments)
  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades
  • Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Research, analyze and solve payroll related queries


Leave (ESS):

  • Follow up on leave applications and ensure it is imported into the system
  • Verify leave applications
  • Approve leave applications to ensure it reflects accurately on the system
  • Perform leave recons
  • Responsible for the upkeep and management of the employee self-service system


Time & attendance:

  • Manage and maintain the timekeeping system
  • Reconcile ESS to timekeeping system on a monthly basis
  • Manage employee rosters


Administration & Reporting:

  • Manage and maintain all admin in the HR department
  • Develop / Manage / Execute the induction process of new employees
  • Develop / Manage / Execute the termination process of new employees
  • Manage all HR information tracking logs
  • Be responsible for all record keeping (hard copy and electronic)
  • Manage the annual performance appraisal process
  • Manage the annual compensation review process




  • Senior Certificate
  • Relevant payroll/HR qualification advantageous
  • A minimum of 3 years payroll experience (previous experience with SAGE People advantageous)
  • Experience in working on excel spreadsheets.
  • Bargaining council (BIBC) experience advantageous
  • Experience in and knowledge on time & attendance software
  • Basic HR knowledge
  • Knowledge of provisions of Basic Conditions of Employment Act
  • Statutory and legislative requirements in respect of PAYE, UIF, Workman’s compensation

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and general computer literacy
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Professional communication skills (able to handle own correspondence
  • Team Player
  • Treat payroll and related information with highest degree of confidentiality
