Main Purpose of Job:
The CMF Product Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth, supporting neurosurgical theatre cases, and maintaining strong relationships with surgeons, theatre staff, and hospital management. The role includes promoting product portfolio, providing in-theatre technical support, managing custom implant cases through this Medical Division, and ensuring exceptional service delivery
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Senior Certificate (Matric)
- NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, or related medical field
Experience
- Previous sales experience in the medical device or healthcare sector (Required)
- Experience working within theatre environments (highly beneficial)
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally
Skills & Attributes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with medical professionals
- Sales-driven with strong negotiation and presentation abilities
- Highly organised with the capacity to manage multiple cases, clients, and administrative tasks
- Technically inclined with the ability to learn surgical products and applications quickly
- Effective problem-solver, particularly in high-pressure and time-sensitive theatre settings
- Willingness to work after-hours or on-call when required
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Generate new business by engaging potential surgeons and healthcare professionals
- Grow and maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure retention and service satisfaction
- Promote and position CMF product portfolio in line with company strategy
- Consistently achieve monthly and annual sales targets
Theatre Case Support
- Provide in-theatre support to ensure correct product usage and optimal clinical outcomes
- Assist across product divisions when required
- Provide after-hours and on-call support on a rotational or as-needed basis
Client & Customer Service
- Respond promptly and professionally to quotation requests and product enquiries
- Coordinate all aspects of Custom Implant Division cases, including planning, communication, and post-operative follow-up
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client needs and escalate issues appropriately
Administration & Inventory Management
- Complete sales documentation, case reports, and ensure timely follow-up on hospital order numbers
- Conduct monthly consignment stock checks to ensure accuracy and availability
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, client engagements, and in-theatre product usage
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in local and international training sessions to maintain up-to-date product and surgical knowledge
- Keep informed on competitor activity, market trends, and regulatory developments
- Represent at medical congresses, workshops, and exhibitions
