Sales Representative (Food Packaging) – Johannesburg

The Sales Representative is tasked with achieving maximum sales profitability and growth within an assigned customer base by effectively selling the company’s products and/or related services


Key Responsibilities 

  • Personally contact and secure new business accounts and customers
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals to be presented to sales manager on a weekly basis
  • Utilise daily Skynamo as a tool for all sales activities and maintain and update all information required relating to customer database, sales activities and personal movement
  • Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to the Company staff
  • Present and sell company products and services to current and potential clients
  • Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity
  • Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned
  • Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge
  • Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships
  • Prepare paperwork to activate and maintain contract services
  • Take part in marketing events, such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events
  • Follow-up for collection of payment
  • Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services
  • Provide on-the-job training to new sales employees
  • Manage account services through quality checks and other follow-ups
  • Coordinate Company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales
  • Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock
  • Help implement company marketing plans as needed
  • Ensure monthly sales targets are achieved as set and agreed with Sales Manager
  • Act as the first point of contact regarding customer queries
  • Liaise with relevant telesales clerk daily to ensure customer relationships are optimally managed and queries are resolved promptly
  • Assist the sales team as operationally required
  • Planning and attending of In-store promotions/wet demos


Inherent Requirments

  • Driver’s licence
  • Own vehicle
  • At least 2 years’ experience in sales in a similar industry (wholesale, retail or butcheries)
  • Driven and self-motivated
  • MS office experience
