Raw Material Store Supervisor – Cape Town


Manage the day to day running of the raw material stores to maintain accurate stock levels and ensure the correct movement of stock between stores and production area



Receiving of raw material

Ensure raw materials received from suppliers are correct in terms of quality, quantity and price as per the purchase order before documents are GRV’ed by the Administrator

Ensure QC sampling plan is followed on new stock arriving


Materials Transferring

Ensure materials are issued for jobs and packing is prioritized based on production needs

Ensure materials are issued correctly to WP warehouse Team Leader for crates and that expense issued items are allocated correctly and the Administrator prints correct HQ sheets for cutting room

Sign off stock adjustments and warehouse transfers before administrator enters them on the system



Ensure good housekeeping practices are followed in all the raw material stores

Materials are packed correctly per pack size to maximize space effectively

Ensure all items in the stores are marked with barcodes and descriptions

Set up and maintain a cycle count schedule for all raw materials

Plan annual stock take timeously



Re-order expense issue items timeously via the procurement department through the Administrator

Signoff transfers to external service providers eg Gasket & Shim


Administration / General

Monitor and report staff productivity, timekeeping, work quality and engage in remedial actions timeously

Receive sick certificates, wages queries which are passed on to ER – HR Production Administrator

Interpret and enforces all company policies/ rules, health & safety regulations and labour contracts

Promote a clean safe work area throughout the stores

Attend daily/ weekly operational meetings

  • Minimum 3 years supervision experience in purchasing and receiving and raw materials store environment
  • Diploma would be an advantage
  • Problem-solving skills are a requirement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and inventory storage software is required
  • Self-motivated and ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced and unionized environment whilst retaining an eye for detail is a critical attribute
  • Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference
