Practice Manager (Medical Doctor) – Southern Suburbs – Cape Town



The Practice Manager’s core role will be to promote quality of care, requiring the application of clinical and administrative skills to guide the facility in providing overall care and clinical practice carried out at the facility


Responsible for the daily operations of the facility, including the coordination of all operations by ensuring that staff management, administrative, and customer service requirements are delivered efficiently and effectively

Assisting in the development and management of clinical quality assurance activities, including risk management

This is a half-day position from 08h00 to 13h00





Advise the facility’s health and safety committee in areas where clinical input is needed

Oversee the efficient operations at the facility

Review of admissions, transfers, extensions, and discharges when requested to comment on clinical aspects

Monitor staffing levels at the facility

Oversee, review, and update clinical and administrative policies and procedures

Effective relationship management with doctors, service providers, patients, and staff to ensure that the facility maintains an excellent reputation and to ensure optimum occupancy

Policies and procedures formulated and implemented to ensure all patient feedback is managed and used to improve customer service

Customer service levels are continually monitored and managed to ensure a world-class customer experience

Liaise with other medical professionals to ensure excellent relationships are maintained and fostered

Systems are implemented, maintained, and managed to increase income



Liaison with role players (hospital Case Managers/Doctors, etc.) to promote the facility

Ensure excellent knowledge of the company and the facility’s services offered

Discuss goals and objectives with Multi-Disciplinary Team, Nursing Serves Managers and senior management


Multidisciplinary Team:

Attend all MDT meetings weekly

Work with the medical and multidisciplinary team to ensure the best clinical management of patients

Lead the MDT in managing clinical outcomes



Participate in continued education and training for staff to set standards of patient sub-acute care

Help work towards a coherent policy and implement procedures to measure and promote outcomes-based medical and nursing management



Prepare reports in line with management requirements





A postgraduate qualification, i.e. Clinical Management advantageous


Experience & Knowledge:

Work experience in hospital administration

Proven leadership and operational management experience (including financial management and business planning processes) within a healthcare environment

Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and role-players including an understanding of relevant legislation

Solid understanding of healthcare procedures and regulations
