Medical: Sales & Product Manager – Cardiothoracic – Johannesburg

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Development, implementation & achievement of an annual Sales budget:

Setting up sales budget

Evaluating sales vs target performance and adjust if necessary, Incentives

Utilize sales history and current sales data to track usage per account and customer

Present monthly sales tracking per hospital and customer to sales force and relevant management

Alert and management when changes in sales trends are observed

 

Customer development:

Develop strategic relationships and training with customers

Support customer training initiatives as per customer, sales, and product plans

 

Development, implementation and tracking of an annual marketing plan and budget.

Product:

Responsible for product plans

Responsible for product training for customers, internal employees and new recruits when they start with the company

Obtain annual certification via training on all relevant products

Responsible for developing promotional campaigns for products

Responsible for costing and margin management in conjunction with Finance

Assist, when needed, during ad hoc training initiatives in field

Ensure product training tools are updated on a regular basis

Support cases in the field

Educate clinical specialists of particular marketing tool/campaign prior to roll-out

Have specific roll-out strategy per campaign.

Tracks roll out per CS and account.

 

Marketing Budget:

Responsible for marketing budget and tracking of it

Project Manage both local and overseas congresses, and ensure relevant processes are followed

Arrange local and international customer visits

Align local marketing strategies with international supplier marketing strategies.

Perform market research in order to develop the marketing plan per product so as to maximize overall sales per product

Follow internal procedures in order to get the necessary approvals and payments done

Ensure spent remains within budget

Proposals to be HOD for any expenditure outside of budget before incurred

Ensure return is shown from expenses incurred

 

Sales Budget Management:

Drive sales from both from a Clinical specialist and Product point of view

Report on the sales performance as per requested

Responsible for reviewing quarterly commissions for team members before pay-out

Prepare project commission evaluations and submit to HOD quarterly

 

Development, implementation & achievement of a Health Insurance Strategy:

Responsible for a strategic reimbursement Plan (product plan)

Manage all product related queries both internally and externally

Assist with adhoc projects as and when needed

Assist Head of Sales and Marketing with the Development and implementation of strategies per market segment e.g. Hospital groups, Public Sector and Tenders

 

Launch new products, development and implementation of integrated launch plan in conjunction with the Head of Department:

Nappi codes

Funder Reimbursement with HTA if necessary

Hospital Access

Responsible for implementing and developing a successful integrated launch plan for all new products

Launching of approved products into hospitals, taking into account required stock levels and pharmacy access, as well as communication with all relevant stakeholders on procurement

Sales Team Training

Implementation of Promotional Campaigns

Manage new product launches that may be out of the original budget i.e. setting revised targets for team

 

Sales & Market share tracking, competitor activity & pricing tracking:

Report and analyze local market share monthly

Update competitor prices quarterly

Update competitor activities monthly

 

Staff Management

Responsible for Recruitment, filling existing headcounts and or new positions

Responsible for Dismissal and or Retrenchments in conjunction with HOD and HR

Responsible for Disciplinary Action for employees (misconduct) in conjunction with HOD and HR

Responsible for Contingency and Succession Planning in conjunction with HOD and HR Responsible for all team members Leave management

Maintain low turnover of staff

 

Consignment Stock Management:

Ensure that Clinical Specialists do monthly stock checks in hospitals and manage their stock levels and expiries to ensure optimal sales

Ensure effective Kit Management with stake holders i.e. CS, invoicing and shipping

Ensure upliftment of expired stock within a minimum of 1 week post expiry

Work in conjunction with the Logistics department in order to ensure that stock is moved in line with the account strategy

Ensure quarterly stock levels are reviewed and updated in line with sales and company strategy per account

Ensure that company procedure is followed during TC requests

 

Campbell Education / Training:

Liaise with CEI Manager to plan training events for the year for customers and internal staff as well as new recruits

Ensure Clinical Specialists follow up on customer invitations sent out by CEI in order to optimize attendance of relevant courses.

Ensure Clinical Specialists follow up with customers to keep interesting cases for case discussions at courses

Develop and present the technical product update during Crossroads courses

 

Legal:

 

Ensure compliance with all relevant legal aspects

 

Ensure that all new development of marketing material is approved by the LM and Global Brand prior to printing or going out to market place

 

Manage faulty product reports:

When a CS is alerted of a faulty product, ensure the necessary procedure is followed to report this correctly. Liaise with compliance to ensure all paperwork is correctly filled out and that compliance department has what it requires from an international perspective

Ensure that the CS follow-ups takes place timeously

Ensure that all CS are familiar with faulty product reporting

 

Product Ordering:

Ensure products are ordered on a regular basis to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained

Work closely with logistics to confirm that monthly orders are in line with overall company orders

Communicate any manufacturing back orders to Management and the CS’s – as and when this takes place

 

REQUIREMENTS

Relevant medical qualification and clinical experience

Presentation Skills

MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint

3-5 years in similar role

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Time management abilities

Flexible and adaptable

Team player

Problem solver

Detail focused but also able to see the bigger picture

Must be customer focused

Available to spend time away from home
