Medical Company – Sales Manager – Cardiovascular – JHB


Management of the sales department including all sales targets and staff management responsibilities



Development, implementation and achievement of an annual sales target and sales budget

Setting up sales budget

Evaluating sales vs target performance and adjust if necessary, Incentives


KOL development

Develop strategic relationships and training with customers


Assist Product Manager with the development, implementation and achievement of an annual

marketing plan and marketing budget

Evaluate actual performance vs plan and adjust speedily when required in conjunction with the

Product Manager

Develop and implement strategies per market segment in conjunction with the Head of Department, e.g. hospital groups, public sector, tenders, etc.


Launch new products, develop and implement integrated launch plan in conjunction with the Head of Department and Product Manager

Sales team training

Implementation of promotional campaigns

Hospital access

Launching of approved products into hospitals, taking into account required stock levels and pharmacy access, as well as communication with all relevant stakeholders on procurement

Responsible for meetings /events with customers as required at hospital level

Manage new product launches that may be out of the original budget i.e. setting revised targets for team


Staff Management

Responsible for recruitment, filling existing headcounts and or new positions

Responsible for disciplinary action for employees (misconduct) in conjunction with HOD and HR

Responsible for contingency and succession planning in conjunction with HOD and HR

Responsible for all team members leave management

Maintain low turnover of staff


Budget Management

Ensure spent remains within budget

Proposals to EXCO for any expenditure outside of budget before incurred

Responsible for monthly reporting on sales and marketing budget variance against set budget

Responsible for reviewing quarterly commissions for team members before pay-out

Prepare project commission evaluations and submit to HOD Consignment Stock Management

Ensure that Clinical Specialists do monthly stock checks in hospitals and manage their stock levels and expiries to ensure optimal sales

Ensure effective kit management with stake holders i.e. CS, invoicing and shipping

Ensure upliftment of expired stock within a minimum of 1 month post expiry


Crossroads / Training

Liaise with CEI Manager to plan training events for the year for customers and internal staff as well as new recruits

Ensure Clinical Specialists follow up on customer invitations sent out by CEI in order to optimize

attendance of relevant courses

Ensure Clinical Specialists follow up with customers to keep interesting cases for case discussions at courses



Ensure compliance with all relevant legal aspects entailing section 21

Ensure that all new development of marketing material is approved by the LM and Legal prior to printing or going out to market place


Product Management

Ensure that all relevant products to your portfolio is managed within the required temperature ranges

Conduct 6 monthly formal consignment levels review in order to ensure that correct stock levels are maintained to support optimal sales, and to reduce overall stock holding where stock is not needed (avoiding stock expiry)

Recommendation of new products to HOD



Relevant medical qualification and clinical experience

MS Access intermediate

Presentation skills

MS Office

5 Years sales experience

3 – 5 years in a management role

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Time management skills

Flexible and adaptable

Good leadership

Problem solver

Detail focused but also able to see the bigger picture

Must be customer focused
