Job Overview
The main purpose of this position:
The Infection Control Coordinator will be responsible to plan, develop and implement an infection control programme for the hospital using infection control standards and international best practice
Requirements:
- A relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree/ or relevant management qualification)
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
- Compulsory BLS certification
- Clinical Expertise within your speciality
- Advanced Computer Literacy
- Excellent IPC knowledge
- Post basic qualification in IPC will be an advantage
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Aid and assist all hospital employees in managing the prevention, identification and control of infections in patients and employees
- Plan, develop and implement an infection control program in keeping with the updated infection control standards
- Notify the Department of Health timeously of diseases where applicable
- Organize regular infection control and health and safety committee meetings and document the proceedings
- Maintain an up to date infection control file that is available and accessible to all nursing and house-keeping staff
- Ensure the adherence / supervision of protective clothing for all employees and members of the public when needed
