Our Client, A Dynamic Export Company seeks a highly motivated Experienced Technical Buyer to source and deliver assigned commodities and services in a manner that is consistent with the company policies and performance goals. Must have experience sourcing commodities for mining and or oil / gas companies and their clients are spread throughout the African Continent. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure is a distinct requirement as this is a demanding roll.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the job include:

 

  • Negotiate and finalise prices with the suppliers for diverse services and materials
  • Improve the methods of purchasing and eliminate unnecessary expenditure
  • Find new clients
  • Find new suppliers both locally and internationally, negotiate terms and supply agreements, negotiate rebates and discounts

  • According to the production schedule ensure that you purchase the required equipment, materials and components
  • Throughout the entire production cycle ensure that you plan, monitor and schedule the materials movement
  • According to the necessity, the orders should be expedited. Any problems in delivery should be identified and rectified and the correct personnel informed including the client
  • Work closely with our warehouse staff in Johannesburg
  • Maintain and establish good relationships with the clients and suppliers
  • Maintain and keep complete records of all supplier and client communication
  • Maintain awareness of procurement and materials concepts
  • Verify accuracy of the data of BOMs, part numbers, part costs included in the MRP, if there is a problem report it to management
  • Keep all written documents updated
  • Manage shipments coming from overseas
  • Track all import shipments and ensure there are no stock-shortages
  • Negotiate and manage schedules for timely delivery of materials
  • Knowledge of Imports/Exports Costing
  • Get quotes from freight forwarders for both export and import shipments
  • Negotiate with freight forwarders on rates
  • Check all import and export forwarder invoices are correct
  • Check all duty amounts are correct
  • Ensure Euro one certificates are accompanied when necessary
  • Ensure that all export and import documents are received from freight forwarders and that they are correct
  • Perform any ad hoc tasks that may be required of you from time to time
  • Liaising extensively with the clients / commercial relationship management
  • Bid on tenders
  • Travel both local and international may be required from time to time

Minimum Requirements

  • Bcom / BTech Supply Chain Management or other tertiary degree / min 3 year diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years local and International cross border procurement (Africa purchasing) required
