ER – Production Floor Supervisor – Cape Town


Maximize throughput in the production process focusing on the assembly and stitching of products while maintaining quality standards and achieving production targets



Production Throughput

  • Internal – Maintain a throughput pre-set quantity of units per day as agreed for all production cells (this will be adjusted from time to time) while maintaining quality standards
  • Report daily production figures to line manager
  • Ensure that orders are produced to deadlines and right quality standards are achieved by coordinating and controlling of manufacturing processes i.e. Local shorts


Workforce Management

  • Communicating with the production staff and dealing with any issues effecting production and deal with any disciplinary issues fairly and consistently in conjunction with the line manager
  • To monitor and maintain discipline on the floor such as excessive talking, housekeeping, time keeping e.g. Toilet breaks etc. and ensuring all rules are adhered to
  • Monitor and report staff productivity, work quality and engage in remedial actions timeously


Materials / Equipment Management

  • Staying informed regarding supply of materials and communicating with other departments i.e. NPD & QC to maintain workflow.
  • Ensure machines and equipment failures are raised timeously
  • Monitoring and resolving quality problems that may arise


Administration / General

  • Receive sick certificates, wages queries which are passed on to payroll via HR and Production Admin person
  • Interpret and enforces all company policies/ rules, health & safety regulations and labour contracts
  • Promote a clean safe work area throughout the production facilities
  • Initiate and attend daily/ weekly production meetings
  • Work continuously toward improving quality and reducing costs
  • Opening and closing duties when required (ensure machines and equipment is switched off or unplugged and all windows are closed)

  • Minimum 5 years supervision experience in a production environment (preferably the textile industry)
  • Degree / Diploma in Production will be advantageous
  • Excellent Organizational skills, speed, accuracy and superior problem-solving skills are a requirement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Self-motivated and ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced and unionized environment whilst retaining an eye for detail is a critical attribute
  • Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference
