About the Job:
To promote and deliver quality patient care and wellness in accordance with industry standards and to execute nursing duties within the standards, procedures and protocols prescribed by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and the applicable Scope of Practice. The role works closely with doctors and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in delivering appropriate patient care
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Nursing Degree or Diploma
Current registration with SANC as a Registered Nurse
BLS qualification
ACLS, PALS and/or ATLS are advantageous.
Minimum Experience
2–3 years’ relevant Medical Ward experience is essential
Private hospital/healthcare experience is advantageous
Knowledge of hospital operations and patient care is beneficial

Duties & Responsibilities:
Deliver nursing care in accordance with SANC, Department of Health and National Core Standards
Maintain appropriate standards of patient advocacy and patient rights
Supervise, organise and coordinate nursing activities to ensure effective delivery of patient care
Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including patient records, medication records and care plans
Conduct structured ward rounds and accompany doctors and other medical practitioners
Implement doctors’ instructions and prescriptions and participate in the development and evaluation of individualised care plans
Monitor nursing staff to ensure compliance with clinical protocols, patient safety requirements, nursing policies and SANC standards
Participate in relevant internal and external audits, including risk and quality audits
Promote infection prevention and contribute to reducing healthcare-associated infections
Maintain records relating to incidents and complaints and contribute to corrective/preventative actions
Work collaboratively with doctors and the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care
Support appropriate utilisation of nursing resources and cost containment within the unit
