About the Job:

The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing all technical activities related to the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and storage facilities. This role involves inspecting vehicles for faults, identifying customer concerns, and delivering effective technical solutions. The technician ensures that all work is completed to a high standard, including testing vehicles before returning them to customers. Accurate reporting and completion of job cards are essential, as well as maintaining clear communication with the Workshop Manager and team members. The role requires working in a workshop environment with exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and noise, while adhering to all safety procedures

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 and N3 qualification
• Completed trade test (trade exam)
• At least 4 years’ relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• In-depth knowledge of motor vehicle systems, components, and accessories
• Ability to fault-find and use diagnostic equipment
• Experience with Launch Diagnostic Machine and Haynespro
• Ability to service and repair vehicles and perform standard fitments
• Strong organizational, professional, and dependable work ethic
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and instructions
• Ability to complete accurate work reports and job cards
• Strong problem-solving and reasoning abilities
• Basic computer skills, particularly in workshop management systems (Launch & Haynespro)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Inspect vehicles to identify faults and diagnose potential problems and customer complaints
• Provide technical solutions for diagnosed issues
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on vehicles
• Carry out vehicle inspections as required
• Report all faults and findings both verbally and in writing
• Strip, fit, and replace vehicle components
• Perform and sign off vehicle tests after completing repairs
• Ensure all work is completed before vehicles are returned to customers
• Accurately complete and maintain job cards with detailed information
• Submit completed job cards to the Workshop Manager
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
• Work effectively in an environment exposed to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and noise levels that may be loud
