About the Job:
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for the implementation, promotion, administration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Medical Association’s Code. This role combines compliance management, stakeholder engagement, training, communications, committee support, programme management, and industry representation to ensure the successful delivery of Medical Association’s Code-related objectives
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Governance, Compliance, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in medical technology code compliance and governance
Knowledge of POPIA, governance principles, compliance frameworks, and ethical business practices
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, presentation, and report-writing skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience managing databases and digital platforms
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines

Duties & Responsibilities:
Code Marketing, Communications & Awareness
Develop and implement a comprehensive Code marketing and awareness strategy
Promote the Medical Association’s Code among members, stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and industry partners
Manage and update Code-related content on the Medical Association’s website and digital platforms
Develop LinkedIn content, thought leadership articles, newsletters, press releases, podcasts, videos, and other communication materials
Create content for the Medical Association’s Annual Report
Source, develop and present Code and compliance-related content for conferences and industry events
Draft and manage member communications and newsletters focused on Code matters
Develop and deliver Code training programmes, including digital learning solutions
Stakeholder Engagement & Industry Representation
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans
Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including:
Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs)
Healthcare Professional (HCP) societies
Industry associations
Regulatory bodies
Ensure Medical Association representation on industry forums, committees, and Code-related initiatives
Coordinate stakeholder meetings and prepare presentations and briefing documents
Facilitate engagement with local and international industry organisations
Training & Education
Develop and deliver Code compliance training programmes for:
The Medical Association’s members
Compliance Officers
Healthcare Professionals
Professional Conference Organisers
Present Code updates and educational sessions to members and stakeholders
Identify emerging training needs and develop suitable educational resources
Committee & Governance Support
Provide full administrative and governance support to the Medical Association Code Committee
Schedule meetings and manage committee calendars
Prepare agendas, governance documentation, minutes, and action registers
Track committee decisions and follow up on outstanding actions
Support committee planning, budgeting, and KPI monitoring
Coordinate Code forums, webinars, workshops, and stakeholder events
Manage ratification and approval processes in accordance with organisational procedures
Serve as Medical Association’s POPIA Information Officer and ensure Medical Association is compliant with POPIA
Code Compliance Management
Manage on boarding and Code compliance requirements for new members and Code signatories
Administer Code certification systems and service providers
Monitor certification compliance and member adherence to Code requirements
Manage Compliance Officer Declarations and conformity processes
Provide guidance on Code-related queries and escalations
Coordinate advisory opinion processes, including panel meetings and stakeholder communication
Manage compliance databases, records, and reporting systems
Administer hotline and complaints processes, including sanctions and follow-up actions where applicable
Draft and coordinate Code-related submissions on legislation, regulations, and industry guidelines
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and Board-level Code compliance reports
Research, Best Practice & Continuous Improvement
Monitor local and international Code compliance developments and industry trends
Research best practices from global industry associations and regulatory bodies
Develop recommendations and position papers to enhance the Medical Association’s Code framework
Support strategic Code initiatives and system development projects
Project manage the development of a Medical Association conference vetting system
Service Provider & Programme Management
Manage external service providers supporting certification, compliance, complaints management, communications, and public relations
Oversee budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery of Code activities
Support growth and retention of Code signatories through engagement, onboarding, and compliance support
