Barista – Wellness Facility – White River, Mpumalanga Full Time

About the Job:

Our Client is seeking a professional, friendly and service-oriented Barista to prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea and other beverages to residents, guests and staff

The successful candidate will contribute to a welcoming and refined environment by providing excellent customer service, maintaining high hygiene standards and ensuring that the coffee service area is always clean, organised and fully stocked

Requirements:

• Matric or an equivalent qualification
• A recognised barista or food and beverage qualification would be advantageous
• At least 1–2 years’ experience as a Barista, preferably within a hotel, lodge, restaurant, healthcare facility or luxury hospitality environment
• Experience operating commercial coffee machines and related equipment
• Knowledge of different coffee beans, brewing methods and espresso-based beverages
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene and stock-control procedures
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required
• Reliable transport to and from White River
• Excellent customer-service orientation
• Professional and well-presented
• Warm, respectful and approachable manner
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work calmly in a busy environment
• Good time-management and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, including cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos, flat whites and speciality coffees
• Prepare teas, hot chocolate, smoothies, juices and other beverages as required
• Ensure that beverages are prepared consistently and according to approved recipes and presentation standards
• Provide friendly, attentive and professional service to residents, guests and staff
• Take beverage orders accurately and respond appropriately to special requests
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the coffee station, service area and surrounding workspace
• Clean and sanitise coffee machines, grinders, utensils and other equipment
• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, teas, sugar, takeaway cups and related supplies
• Report low stock levels and assist with stock counts and replenishment
• Minimise wastage and ensure the responsible use of ingredients and supplies
• Check expiry dates and ensure that all products are stored correctly
• Follow food safety, infection-control and occupational health and safety procedures
• Assist with the preparation and service of light refreshments when required
• Report equipment faults or maintenance concerns promptly
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries when interacting with residents and guests
• Support the food and beverage team during functions, events and busy service periods

Working Conditions

• Shift work may be required
• The position may include weekends and public holidays
• The employee must be able to stand for extended periods
• The role may require lifting and carrying beverage supplies and equipment
• Strict compliance with hygiene, safety and confidentiality requirements is essential
